Blewett on new wicket at Interstate Series

Former Australian Test cricketer Greg Blewett will join the country s best amateur golfers in Adelaide next week to contest the Australian Interstate Teams Matches Australia s oldest amateur teams championship. Blewett (Kooyonga) is representing South Australia for the first time in golf at the men’s event to be played at Royal Adelaide Golf Club, while West Lakes Golf Club will host the women’s championship, both to be played from 1-4 May. A host of Top 10 players from the World and Australian National Amateur Rankings are set to compete. Among those in the women’s draw are World Number 6 Minjee Lee (WA), World Number 10 Breanna Elliott (VIC), World Number 20 Su Hyun Oh (VIC) and World Number 22 Whitney Hillier (23). The men’s draw includes two of the world s top 25 amateur players: New South Welshman Jake Higginbottom (10) and Queenslander Cameron Smith (23). This year s championship will be the first time West Lakes has hosted the event and the first time in 43 years that Royal Adelaide has hosted the men’s event. The Championship sees the top six women and top eight men from each State contesting round robin match play, culminating with a Final on Friday between the two teams who finish with the most contest wins after the five rounds. Queensland are the defending men&aposs champions while Western Australia will defend the Gladys Hay Cup in the women&aposs title. Click Here to see the Hole by Hole Guide to West Lakes Golf Club.
