Blizard fights off the wind and rain at Royal Birkdale

Sydney amateur Rohan Blizard has outshone some of the world&aposs best golfers in his first round of The Open Championship at Royal Birkdale. Blizard shot an eight-over round of 78 but finished ahead of Phil Mickleson, John Daly, Boo Weekley, Ernie Els and Vijay Singh. He starts his second round on Friday just a shot behind the likes of Geoff Ogilvy, Craig Parry, Justin Leonard and Angel Cabrera. In awful conditions at Royal Birkdale, Blizard double-bogeyed the par four second hole and but picked up a shot with a birdie at the fourth. He was +4 through the turn and did well on the back nine, before falling victim to a double-bogey on the 15th. To see Rohan Blizard&aposs player profile click here
