Blizard takes over Tasmania

By Alistair Hogg Golf Australia National Squad member Rohan Blizard has claimed the Tasmania Open by one stroke ahead of England&aposs David Horsey. The 22-year old carded rounds of 67, 64, 66 and 68 to finish 15-under. Victorian Matthew Griffin was third, a further three strokes back. Blizard&aposs second round score of 64 was just one shy of his career best. Tim Stewart, also a National Squad member was fourth with 10-under, Andrew Dodt finished on seven-under and Ray Beaufuls was two strokes in arrears on five-under. Dodt and Stewart will now head to Canberra for this week&aposs much anticipated Trans Tasman Cup at Royal Canberra GC. Beginning Thursday, the two-day competition pits the best amateurs in Australia and New Zealand against each other in this new and innovative teams competition. Richie Gallichan and Rick Kulacz will round out the open men&aposs team while Emma Bennett, Frances Bondad, Kate Combes and Kristie Smith will represent Australia in the women&aposs draw.
