Blog: Keating ecstatic with Tour cards

By Stacey Keating – new Ladies European Tour member. World Amateur Team Championships We (Jane Searle, manager, Denise Hutton, coach, and fellow team members Alison Whitaker and Julia Boland) headed over to Argentina with quite high expectations. But it wasn t to be the week for us. It was such a great experience, but we finished 4 over par, which left us 15th for the week. This was out of 55 countries with best 2 scores out of 3 counting each day. This was an absolute highlight of my amateur career and something I will remember forever. LPGA Futures Tour Qualifying School From Argentina I went to LPGA Futures Qualifying in Florida. From here I learnt how to drive on the other side of the road! This ended up being a good week for me. Courses were playing very tough and long so scoring was difficult but I did what I needed to do, 71,76,73,75 to finish in 37th position. This will give me full playing rights in 2011. Very excited to now be able to turn professional with somewhere to play! Ladies European Tour Q-School Then to Spain for Ladies European Tour Q-School. This was a long couple of weeks. 1st stage was top 70 out of 160 go through to 2nd stage. I got through this comfortably and even had a nice surprise in my 2nd round. At Tour school, you want things to be as stress free, and feel the least amount of pressure possible and I certainly wasn t prepared for this: We arrived at our tee time in Round 2, and little did I know I was paired with Martin Kaymer&aposs girlfriend, and two days after he won the Race to Dubai he was out caddying in our group! I had the number 3 player in the world holding the pin for me!! He was a great guy, and I played quite nicely, so was even better!! Then onto second stage which was 30 full tour cards up for grabs out of 100 people. Over the 5 rounds I was quite happy with my form, shooting, 72,71,75,71,69 to finish in 4th place!! I am absolutely over the moon with this result and got what I wanted. A European Tour Card for 2011! So now I have option, to play Futures and European Tours. I m really looking forward to the next stage in my career, and so excited about playing professional golf. Thanks to everyone for your support over the last month or so, its been a very busy/exciting time! Hope this finds everyone well, and wishing you and all your families a happy and safe festive season. I hope your 2010 was as good as you planned and wish you a very happy 2011.
