Scot Catriona Matthew continued her birdie blitz on the receptive greens at Grey Silo Golf Course in Waterloo, Ontario to lead the Manulife Financial LPGA Classic. Matthews, followed up her career low opening round of eight-under 63, with another superb seven-under 64 to sit atop of the leaderboard at 15-under and three clear of her rivals. Matthew opened her round with four-straight pars but got things going on the par 5 5th hole. The 19-year LPGA Tour veteran sank a 25-foot eagle putt and followed it up with a birdie on No. 6 and 8 to move to 12-under before the turn. I played really well again, you know, gave myself a lot of chances, said Matthew. Good chances at 1, 3 and 4 that I missed by 10 feet and holed a good eagle putt on 5. I mean, it feels really good. I&aposve holed a lot of putts. I&aposve given myself a lot of chances, so I wouldn&apost say I&aposve really holed many super long ones, but every time I give myself a chance, I&aposm kind of taking advantage of it. Matthew would go on to pick up two more birdies on Nos. 11 and 16 before closing out with a four-foot birdie putt on the 18th to move to 15-under par. She missed only one fairway and one green in regulation on Friday and said she felt her work on the greens was her strength of her round. I don&apost know. I mean, I would say first time here, obviously suits my eye a little bit, maybe just got the speed of the greens, said Matthew. I think that&aposs the important thing. When you&aposre holing putts, it all seems quite easy. American Angela Stanford is leads the chase after a second round of 67, while Swede Anna Nordqvist (64), American Ryann O Toole (65), Spain s Belen Mozo (66) and South Korean Chella Choi (65) and Meena Lee (66) share third place at 11-under-par. On day were birdies were the order of the day, Julia Boland performed the best of the large Aussie contingent. Boland fired a six-under-par 65 which included eight birdies and two bogeys. Boland had some work to do after an opening round of 74, so it was a very good effort by the rookie to fight back and finish at three-under at the halfway point. Three under was the right number for Boland as the cut was three-under. Karrie Webb was the only other Australian to make the week-end. She posted second consecutive round of 69 to be one shot in front of Boland and tied for 48th. Unfortunately Bre Elliott (E), Frances Bondad (+1), Katherine Hull (+1), Sarah Jane Smith (+2), Sarah Kemp (+3) and Stephanie Na (+8) all missed the cut. Lindsey Wright withdrew from the second round.
