Bonnie Doon and ACT-Monaro are set to battle it out for the Eric Apperly Shield this weekend at Lynwood Country Club.
The ACT-Monaro team will be looking to lift the Shield for the first time, while for Bonnie Doon, it’s 20 years since they last held the title.
Bonnie Doon made light work of their opponents to reach the knockout stages of this year’s tournament, compiling a record of four wins and a tie, before they accounting for Pennant Hills in the semi final 4 1/2 matches to 1 1/2.
Kurt Burns, Jack Mcleod, and Mitchell Gannon have the experience of winning a major title after being part of the Major Pennant team that lifted the Division I metropolitan major Pennant in 2016 and will be will be key players for the Pagewood Club on Sunday.
Josh Armstrong will be making his first appearance in the tournament for ACT – Monaro this year after an extended run of events throughout the United States and Europe, highlighted by his appearance in the matchplay rounds of the US Boys Amateur.
Besides Armstrong, recently crowned NSW Country Champion Jake Davies will strength to the lineup that accounted for the previously undefeated Concord GC in last Sunday week’s semi-final.
The final will get underway at 7am on Sunday 10 September
