Bradley sets course record in Texas

Keegan Bradley has fired a course-record 10-under 60 to take a three-shot lead after the opening round of the HP Byron Nelson Championship. The American, champion at the TPC Four Seasons Resort in 2011, holed an eagle, 10 birdies and two bogeys in Texas on Thursday. South African Charl Schwartzel sits at seven under in outright second after a fine 63, while trio Ted Potter Jr, Harris English and Robert Karlsson are a further shot back. Bradley, who started on the back nine, was just three under through 10 holes, and he said shooting a 59 only crossed his mind on the last hole. “I finished eagle-birdie-birdie, so it didn&apost cross my mind very much. It did on the fairway (on my last hole),” he said. “I had 136 yards, I hit my wedge and it was going right at it. It crossed my mind for a second that it would be unbelievable if I buried this.” Bradley&aposs round beat the previous course record – held by Tiger Woods, Justin Leonard and Charlie Rymer – by one shot. Schwartzel and American Potter went through bogey-free, while English, also of the United States, and Swede Karlsson had only single blemishes on their cards. American Ryan Palmer, Argentine Angel Cabrera and Colombian Camilo Villegas are at five under at the PGA Tour event. Defending champion Jason Dufner shot an even-par 70 to be tied for 77th. Australians Marc Leishman (four under), Nathan Green and Scott Gardiner (both three under) made solid starts. Cameron Percy (two under), Stuart Appleby and Greg Chalmers (both one under) are further back, while Alistair Presnell (even par) and Nick O&aposHern (one over) are behind them. John Senden (one over) and 2010 champion Jason Day (two over) struggled.
