Bringing social media into action for clubs

Golf clubs from across metropolitan Sydney gathered at the Golf NSW offices last Thursday for a social media forum presented by Golf Australia. Among those clubs represented at the forum were New South Wales Golf Club, Liverpool Golf Club, Ryde-Parramatta Golf Club and Bonnie Doon Golf Club. Golf Australia Digital Director John Sutherland and Media and Communications Manager Hamish Jones discussed a range of social media strategies for golf clubs and the options on a number of the most popular platforms. Lots of clubs are doing great things on social media particularly on Facebook and we re looking to help clubs grow this area of their business, Sutherland said. A number of clubs are considering opening additional social media accounts – Twitter, LinkedIn and YouTube for example and part of our discussions was around the key factors to keep in mind when the club embarks on these projects. Clubs are realising that social media is here to stay, rather than a fad, so we re looking to support them as much as we can in this area and this forum is part of that. Clubs interested in having the Social Media Forum in their state should contact their State Association to liaise with Golf Australia.
