Brown the last man standing

It took two playoff holes after a day of high winds and high drama to determine the winner of the 2014 Mazda NSW Open Championship.  Victorian Anthony Brown held his metal by birdieing the eighteenth hole both times in the playoff to prevail against New Zealand's Josh Geary.

The lead see-sawed a number of times on the back nine between Geary and his playing partner NSW’s James Nitties.

Playing in the group in front, Victorian Professional Anthony Brown plotted his way to a well-crafted three under par 69 that included a clutch birdie putt on the 72nd hole to finish the tournament at 14 under par.

Reigning US amateur Gunn Yang played solidly in the strong wins to shoot a final round par 72 to finish outright fourth and take the leading amateur title.

NSW State Team member Travis Smyth, fresh from his Queensland amateur title, continued his fine form to finish the tournament tied eight at eight under par.
