Brown wins Golf SA Amateur Classic

Brown SA Classic Champion South Australian Chris Brown from The Grange Golf Club has stormed home to win the Golf SA Amateur Classic. Brown becomes the fourth South Australian to with the Classic after Phil Roberts 1988, Rob Hammer 2000 and Brad Moules 2010. Brown finished with rounds of 70-71-76-66 to win at 1 under par, one clear of three players tied on 284. Sharing second place, were, James McMillan (Royal Melbourne) who had the low score of the day with a final round 6-under par 65, Daniel Hoeve (Kwinana) who carded a final round 66 and Matthew Stieger who shot an even round of 71. Today I holed all my putts, I didn t read the greens the first 3 days, but today they all went in, Brown said. I knew I had to go low to have a chance, I decided not to take too many risks by only hitting irons off the tee. My short game held together today and my iron play was straight at it, I didn t miss any greens. Brown said. It’s the biggest win of my career so far, hopefully there will be many more wins to come Brown added. Royal Adelaide s Brad Moules finished in outright fifth, only two behind the leader, whilst Kevin Marques (Indooroopilly), Callan O Reilly (Pennant Hills) and overnight leader Dimitrios Papadatos (Moore Park) shared sixth place three strokes behind Brown in a tightly packed leaderboard. The next best South Aussies were Alex Hendrick 290, Tom Bond 291 and Heath Riches who closed with a 79 on 292. Greg Blewett with rounds of 82-72-76-78 (308) finished in 47th place.
