Buckle within touch

Australian golfer Andew Buckle is tied for 18th at the midway point of the Viking Classic at the Annandale Golf Club. Buckle fired a one-under-par round of 71 to finish the day at six-under, some five shots behind overnight leader Marc Turnesa. Starting on the back nine, Turnesa notched four birdies over a seven-hole stretch to record a two-day total of 11-under-par 133. Turnesa&aposs strong opening round 65 gave him his first 18-hole lead on the Tour. Ranked 358th in the world, the 30-year-old has made just 11 out of 23 cuts this year, with his best finish being a tie for 22nd at the Northern Trust Open in February. Brian Gay, who was victorious at the Mayakoba Golf Classic earlier this year for his only PGA Tour title, is part of a four-way tie for second place after carding a 68. He was joined on 10 under by Will MacKenzie, who birdied six of the first nine holes en route to a bogey-free eight-under 64. The other two members of the second-place quartet are Dicky Pride (67) and Paul Stankowski (65), who had nine birdies with two bogeys for on Friday. Chad Campbell, who won the event last year, is competing for the United States in the Ryder Cup this week. Of the other Australians, Steve Allan is in a tie for 33rd at five-under, Gavin Coles and Nathan Green are in joint 44th at four-under, while Nick Flanagan shot a disappointing 74 to finish at two under.
