Bullas, Harris and Elson claim victories on the Peninsula

It was an icy day for players today at Portsea GC contesting the second and final round of the Mornington Peninsula Senior Amateur. Winter-like conditions added to the challenge of the undulating slopes and the difficulty was reflected in the overall scores for the day.

Alan Bullas (Commonwealth/Portsea) hung onto his shared lead after round 1 to claim the 2015 Men’s title. Bullas, a 16 time club champion at Portsea, carded an 83 today for a 2 shot victory over Ian Frost of Bendigo. Best round for the day was won by Wayne Phillips from the Heritage with an 80 on a count-back.

In the nett section, Adrian Harris of Glen Waverley showed some solid form over 36-holes to record a pair of nett 72s for a total of 144. A mere shot behind was Paul Fink (RACV) on 145 who also produced the best nett score of day with a nett 71.

Maryann Elson from The Dunes played steady golf in trying conditions to card 31 and 33 points for a total of 64 points to be crowned the Women’s Champion. Runner-up behind Elson was Box Hill member Jenny Long on 61 points.

Thank you to both Flinders and Portsea golf clubs and all players for supporting this event. The next event on the Senior calendar is the Warrnambool Senior Amateur on Wed 31 March and Thursday 1 April.
