Butterworth and Edgar win Titleist 2 Day Classic

/> Christian Butterworth (Noosa) and Lisa Edgar (Surfers Paradise) have won the 2017 Titleist 2 Day Summer Classic today, played at Mt Coolum Golf Club

An outstanding field of 106 players teed it up for the first of three 2 Day Classics of 2017, supported by Titleist.

Butterworth claimed the Boy’s title with rounds of 71-78 for a 36-hole total of 149. The Noosa member was able to maintain his overnight lead edging out runner-up Bailey Knoll by four-shots after Knoll suffered late double bogeys on the 14th and 17th to fall nine-shots from his previous 72 round.

In the Girl’s division, Lisa Edgar (Surfers Paradise) fired a closing one-under 71 to fend off Sarah Wilson (Maroochy River) by three-strokes. Edgar held a one-shot buffer heading into the final 18 holes with consecutive birdies on 15, 16, and 17 securing the title, while Wilson produced consistent 75-75 rounds to claim runner-up.

In the division 2 section, Teeran Kannan (Redcliffe) won the boy’s title with rounds of 83-85 while Emily Martin (Murwillumbah) was victorious in the girl’s division carding rounds of 90-87. Isaak Jensen (Yeppoon) won the boy’s division 3 by four-shots with consistent 89-89 rounds.

The 9 hole event was won by Lily Saba with a 18 hole score of 85 and Yutaro Matsushita with a score of 80.

The next Titleist 2 Day Classic will be held at Pelican Waters Golf Club from 6-7 April 2017. The event is open to 9 and 18 holed members of Junior Golf Queensland with this year’s events announced as Greg Norman Junior Masters qualifiers.
