Canterbury wins Vince Church Graduate Award


David Canterbury wins the NSW Golf Course Superintendents Association Vince Church Graduate of the Year Award on 26th March at the Northbridge Golf Club. The NSWGCSA Graduate of the Year Vince Church Award gives an indication of where the future of the industry lies today s recipients will be tomorrow s superintendents and turf managers who will likely play a major role in the development of golf course maintenance in Australia. Golf NSW has supported the Vince Church Award for many years and presented awards to all six finalists who were:

  • Peter Blain (Twin Creeks GC)
  • David Canterbury (Kiama GC)
  • Adrian Kuipers (Concord GC)
  • Lee Moore (Toukley GC)
  • Mitchell Pedron (Emerald Downs GC)
  • Luke Rosborough (Campbelltown & Bankstown GC)
Graeme Phillipson, General Manager, Golf from Golf NSW presented a cheque to each of the finalists, who also received a book prize, one-year membership to the NSWGCSA, a golf shirt and a crystal trophy.
Malcolm Harris from NSWGCSA stated that they were faced with a particularly difficult decision as all six finalists were exceptional in their interviews. Ultimately it was Kiama Golf Club apprentice David Canterbury who was chosen as the Vince Church Graduate of the Year. David has since moved to South Australia s Adelaide Shores as their assistant superintendent. Golf NSW wishes all six finalists the very best in their future.
