Edward Carracher has won the Trimax Victorian Men’s Sand Greens Championship at Wedderburn.
The Euroa member successfully defended his 2016 title with a blistering score of 65 off to stick to overtake overnight leader Beechworth’s Nathan Schneider. Both going out on in even par, Carracher accelerated home with birdies on 10, 11, and 12 to close the deficit. Heading up at 18 all square, Schneider was the first to approach with a lip-out birdie for a tap in par. The stars aligned as Carracher proceeded to chipped in for birdie to secure the championship by a single shot for a two-round total of 137.
Ross Murray cleaned up in B-Grade, matching his round 1 score of 72 off the stick to take home both the gross and nett titles. The Hamilton member bettered his handicap (10) by 14 shots over 36-holes, finishing on an impressive 144 (nett 124). The A-Grade nett winner was Josh Carr of Howlong, carding rounds of 69 and 63 today to win on a count-back on nett 132 from Chris Jones (Ringwood). Bert Mortiz of Bannockburn also defended his C-grade title, winning both gross and nett titles with solid rounds of 82 (64) and 71 (64) for 171 (nett 135).

The club members and volunteers spared no effort in ensuring all players were welcomed with open arms. The support provided from Trimax and all other sponsors are also greatly appreciated, and to all players for their continued involvement.
