Nearly 100 people are now applying the finishing touches to the 18-hole course, clubhouse, village green and neighbourhood centre, all of which account for $30 million of the $650 million development in Colebee. Blacktown&aposs oldest golf club, Ashlar at Springfield Avenue, is taking over the course after a property swap with developer Australand Holdings. Galeb Kilzi, the director of marketing and sales for the Stonecutters developer, Medallist Developers, said Ashlar Golf Club would organise a state, or even a national championship, to challenge Melbourne when it is ready. He said Ashlar had been in Blacktown since 1948 and would take ownership of the golf course and clubhouse next month. “We&aposve created an asset for Blacktown that will endure for generations,” Mr Kilzi said. “You might have no interest in golf but the name Greg Norman is instantly recognisable. “This will add to Blacktown&aposs growing status as a city of substance and make Stonecutters Ridge an even more desirable place to live.” Mr Kilzi said since its launch in 2009 more than 240 lots had been sold and the estate was now a well-established community. Brett Summers, project director of the clubhouse and golf course, said that it was an international course suitable for major golf championships. He said the development had provided a range of jobs to more than 100 people and more jobs would be created with the opening of the course, clubhouse, pro shop and bistro. Ashlar Golf Club chief executive Craig Scott said membership had jumped to more than 700 after a decision was made to take over Stonecutters Ridge Golf Course. Visit: www.blacktownsun.com.au
