Geoff Charnley and Kerrin Biddle take out the 2018 Melbourne Senior Classic at Woodlands Golf Club.

Geoff Charnley capitalised his overnight lead to claim the Melbourne Senior Classic title by 4 strokes. After a lovely round of 2 under yesterday at Spring Valley Charnley started off a bit rocky on the front nine going out in 41 but calmed the nerves to come in 2 under the card on the back nine. Woodlands local Michael Doutch had an interesting day having 71 but carding 6 birdies, a double and a triple to finish runner up to Charnley.

After Mark Nelson’s nett 65 at Spring Valley yesterday and nett 75 at Woodlands today took out the Nett Division. Tocumwal’s Shane Halloran made his trip worth it coming runner up with nett scores of 69 & 73.

One back overnight Kerrin Biddle jumped Heather Harley by 6 strokes to win the Women’s Scratch Stableford title with a total of 54 points. Rossdale member Suzanne Ferguson’s nerves didn’t get the better of her taking out the Stableford Division comfortably by 3 strokes. Shooting 37 & 30 was too good for Kay Barcelon coming runner up on a countback with 64 points.

Golf Australia thank Spring Valley and Woodlands coming together each year to put on a fantastic event to showcase two of Melbourne’s best courses.
