Charters Towers awarded MYGolf Centre of the Year

Congratulations to Charters Towers Golf Club on receiving the 2013 MYGolf Centre of the Year award! Registered as a Centre since early 2012 and winners of the MYGolf Centre of the Month award in March this year, their program is continuing to grow. Now boasting 44 participants, 36 of which signed up in 2013, Charters Towers are more than worthy recipients of this award. In recognition of their achievements, Charters Towers receive a trophy and a cash prize to be used towards the future development and continued success of their MYGolf program. According to Golf Queensland s Manager of Participation Development, Adrian Hewat, Charters Towers have developed a model that can be used at similar clubs. Charters Towers is a great example of a small facility that has focused on building a team of junior coordinators to deliver the MYGolf program, Hewat said. Lead by Club Manager and Centre Coordinator Vin Ainsworth, the team at Charters Towers are firm believers that a successful junior program will continue to attract and include families in the club and ensure potential members receive the correct training. Vin has been a true leader in working with his team to deliver and grow the game at Charters Towers, Hewat said. Having the right people is half the battle, providing a quality, fun program for juniors is also essential and Charters Towers seem to have got this right as well. The club s program focuses on the juniors having fun, meeting new friends and providing opportunity for the juniors to learn in an environment that is junior friendly, Hewat said. Further, the juniors have been given the experience to play on course regularly. Congratulations to Vin and the team at Charters Towers on a fantastic year!
