Clare Choi now sits on top of the Karrie Webb Series table after a string of solid performances in her home state of Victoria. Choi finished equal-first at the Victorian Women&aposs 72-Hole Stroke Play with Stephanie Na before backing up for a Top-10 finish at the Riversdale Cup just days later. These two events have seen Choi leapfrog to the top of the overall standings, 20 points ahead of West Australian Kristie Smith and 90 ahead of Na. Despite not scoring points in the first event of the Series, Choi won the following two at Ulverstone and The Dunes respectively and posted a Top-10 finish at the Lake Macquarie Women&aposs Amateur. The Karrie Webb Series and scholarship program was launched in 2007 as part of Australia&aposs elite golf development program for young Australian women golfers. The Series comprises 12 events concluding with the New South Wales Women&aposs 72-Hole Stroke Play at Concord Golf Club in May. Karrie Webb said at the launch, “The development of our young talent is extremely important to me and for the future for the game in Australia. I was humbled to have Golf Australia approach me to lend my name to this initiative and pleased to have this opportunity to give back through the Series and the introduction of a new scholarship program. It&aposs an exciting time for women&aposs golf in Australia and I look forward to being able to give some advice and be an active part of the elite development future.” The next Karrie Webb Series event is the stroke play component of the Australian Women&aposs Amateur Championship to be played at Glenelg Golf Club in April.
