Chris Allen announced as a Finalist in 2015 Sport NSW Award

Chris Allen, Chairman Golf NSW, has been announced as a finalist in Sport NSW 2015 Community Sports Volunteer Awards

In announcing the finalists, Cheryl Battaerd, CEO Sport NSW, paid tribute to the invaluable contribution volunteers make to all sports in NSW.

“The Community Sports Volunteer Awards recognise the efforts of those around the state who contribute hours of their personal time to ensure that their fellow community members can participate in sport.

“Without the time, energy and commitment of these people many clubs, team sport sessions, coaching sessions and competitions would not be able to run,” Ms Battaerd added.

Chris Allen’s commitment to Golf NSW, Jack Newton Junior Golf and to the sport of golf in general is widely acknowledged by his peers.

As an accredited Rules Official Chris regularly officiates at National and State tournaments which include the Men’s and Women’s Opens, NSW Amateur Championships, NSW Junior Championships, NSW Country Championships, and NSW Senior Championships, as well as over twenty other state-run events.

He attends State Level Training Programmes to assist with training and development of new Rules personnel in golf.

In addition to volunteering as a Rules and Tournament Official, Chris has also served as Chairman of Golf NSW for the past five years.  His tireless work with the Board of Directors, the Council of sixty-five members, and ex-officio on all of Golf NSW’s Committees has seen Chris become a highly respected administrator within the NSW golf community.

As if that isn’t enough, Chris also serves on the Board of the Jack Newton Junior Golf Foundation and the NSW Golf Foundation, the philanthropic arm of Golf NSW, which provides much needed funds to support clubs with their programs with the aim to “drive golf forward”.

Chris believes junior development is integral in sustaining the future of the sport.

The winners will be announced during the Awards Ceremony, incorporating the Minister’s Sport Volunteer Management Awards, on Friday, 21st August at NSW Parliament House.
