After 36 holes of the Rene Erichsen Salver, Amy Chu from NSW and Yuka Yasuda from Japan are joint leaders at 3-under, after both players posted one-over second rounds of 74.
Teeing off in the morning, Chu from The Australian Golf Club battled her way to posting a solid score in trying conditions.
“Today I grinded it out, the wind was definitely different to yesterday, it was a south-easterly so everything was more cross-wind, whereas yesterday was down or into it, so it definitely was a lot harder and the greens were faster.” Chu said.
“I started off okay and once the round started to get going, it was kind of off and on, I left a few short sided and just tried to hole the putts”.
“I will just play my own game tomorrow and if someone plays great, good on them, especially in conditions like today, as it was playing hard out there.” Chu added.
Yasuda ranked 64 in the world, struggled mid round making four bogey’s in six holes before posting a solid 74.
“Today was very difficult conditions, very windy, very fast greens”. Yasuda said.
“Tomorrow, no pressure, very relaxed.”
Rebecca Kay from Queensland is in outright third at 2-under followed by Yuri Yoshida at 1-under.
19 players (+8 or better) progress through to the third round on Wednesday with the leading group off at 8.08am.
