Claney Captures Melbourne Seniors Classic Title

Gordon Claney from Kingston Heath has taken out the 2013 Melbourne Seniors Classic title at Woodlands GC in showery over-cast conditions. The course was presented in an immaculate condition today after hosting yesterday’s Melbourne Invitational Pro-Am.

The 1 marker stormed home with a field best even par 72 to be crowned champion over steady performer Michael Jackson of Yarra Yarra. Claney carded 3 birdies today for a 36-hole total of 152, placing him two shots clear of Jackson on 154.

In the handicap section, it was Metropolitan’s John Noy off a handicap of 17 topping the field with a total nett score of 143. Noy had a fantastic nett 70 today to finish two shots ahead of Brighton’s Wayne Aigner (Hcap 8) on 145. Aigner’s nett 71 today won him the countback from Ian Donaldson (Yering Meadows) and Greg Welsh (Colac).

The next and last event on the calendar for the 2013 Doug Bachli Trophy will be the Moyne Senior Classic played at Port Fairy GC on Thursday 28 to Friday 29 November 2013.
