Class Field for Australian Junior Titles

One of the strongest fields in recent times will descend on NSW next week for the 2011 Australian Junior Championships. The girl s field is headed by national squad member and recent Srixon Australian Amateur runner up, Minjee Lee. Melbourne resident Su-Hyun Oh will be among the favourites, as will last year s winner, Annie Choi. Locals out to ensure the trophy remains in NSW are Chantal Hodson and Cathleen Santoso. The boy s championship includes a host of talent, including 2011 Srixon Australian Men&aposs Stroke Play Champion Cameron Smith and NSW s Jake Higginbottom, both members of the National Squad. Anthony Murdaca, the youngest player to ever win the event when he won the title last year will be hoping to retain the trophy. Over 200 players will contest the girls and boys events at Newcastle and Carnarvon Golf Clubs respectively, over three days of stroke play. Countries represented are Korea, New Zealand, Germany, Japan, French Polynesia, United Kingdom and Switzerland. The Junior Championships have a stellar honour roll, with past champions including Adam Scott, Jason Day, Aaron Baddeley, Sarah Kemp, Wendy Doolan and Jan Stephenson. Entry is free for spectators.
