Queensland’s 10-12 year old’s golf team had a very successful week in the Bellarine Peninsula at the Pacific School Games last week. The team, chosen from trials held in Kingaroy earlier this year, was made up of eight boys and four girls from Capricornia, Metropolitan West, Metropolitan North and South Coast sporting regions. The team players consisted of:
Yuuki Tadada (Burleigh), Caitlin Vanderkruck (Keperra), Shyla Singh (Southport), Sarah Hammett (Emerald Lakes), Isaak Jensen (Yeppoon), Taj Egea (Wolston Park), Aidan Scott (Capricorn), Wesley Hinton (Keperra), Anthony Mannion (Indooroopilly), Isaac Alexander (Yeppoon), Harvey Palmer (The Brisbane), and Michael Lenh (Oxley).
The team played at Port Arlington, Curlewis and Queenscliff in Victoria where they yielded a clean sweep of all the trophies. It was a great way to finish, with last year’s team just missing out on winning the trophy at the Pacific School Games, by 1 shot from New South Wales.
With the best six Boys Nett scores each day counting towards their overall total, the team won the 2018 trophy by 23 shots!
The Brenda Carnavas Trophy (Girls Nett Event) was once again secured by the Queensland team, as the defending champions. The best three Girls Nett scores each day counted towards our overall total and this year the trophy was won by 4 shots.
Craig Parry Trophy (Boys and Girls Combined Gross Event) was also secured by the team, for two years running, with over 50 shots. The best six boys scores and the best three girls scores counted towards the team’s total each round and this year the trophy was won by 59 shots.
Well done to the champion team!
