Coffs reign supreme in the Mid-North

Coffs Harbour Golf Club have seen off a determined Bonville to clinch the 2017 Mid-North Coast Pennant in a close-fought contest, three matches to two.

Jack Poutney starred for the Coffs Harbour team with a solid 4&3 win over his opponent Bill Stocks. In an indication of the standard of play, Pountey was six-under par when the match finished.

Earlier, Bonville captain Adam Wood had gotten his team off to a great start with a 2-up victory over Mark Brindle, but the determined Coffs team stormed back into the contest however when Dan Swain defeated Paul Gallagher 4/3.

Bonville's Richie Gallichan outlasted Shane Cutmore in the number one match to square the ledger at two games apiece, and at that point, the contest could have gone either way.

The battle came down to the result of the third match, and when Tim Hyland made a brilliant up and down from 130 metres on the 17th hole, The Harbour team all but had the 2017 Pennant in the bag.

Solid pars on the last from both players were enough to give Hyland and Coffs Harbour the title.

The standard of golf was outstanding, and special mention should be made to the host club, Nambucca Heads for hosting the final.
