But after graduating in a similar manner from the third-string PGA Tour Canada this time last year, Coletta’s journey to full status on the world’s top circuit has been a long one.
The 23-year-old will need to at least make the cut to ensure his future is in his own hands, but all is not lost if things don’t go his way this weekend.
The top 75 players on the Korn Ferry money list are joined by the 125th to 200th ranked players from this year’s PGA Tour season for the four-week-long Korn Ferry Tour Finals.
Another 25 PGA Tour cards will be on offer there and a pair of future Aussie stars are already headed down that path.
2017 Emirates Australian Open champ Cam Davis (167th) and West Australian Curtis Luck (172nd) couldn’t punch a return trip to the PGA Tour in their rookie seasons, but they’ll headline the Australian charge at the Korn Ferry Tour playoffs starting next week.
Currently 35th on the KFT money list, NSW’s Jamie Arnold could play his way into the top 25 this weekend but he will most likely join Davis and Luck in the playoffs.
At 55th, Victorian Cam Percy is in a similar position, while 98th-ranked Brett Drewitt has some work to do to crack the top 75 and keep his hopes of a return to the PGA Tour alive.
