Coletta primed for Isuzu Queensland Open

The T.B. Hunter Cup is back in play at the Isuzu Queensland Open from 26-29 October at The Brisbane Golf Club and 2016 winner Brett Coletta has announced he will be defending his title.

Coletta became the first amateur since Stuart Appleby in 1991 to win the professional Isuzu Queensland Open last year.

He made his professional debut at the Singapore Open in January, followed by his US PGA debut at Pebble Beach whilst also making his first PGA tour cut at The Memorial Tournament in June.

This year, Coletta has cemented himself as a player of the future with solid performances and has even earned high praise from legend of the game and fellow Australian, Greg Norman.

But with intimate knowledge of The Brisbane Golf Club layout, Coletta is keen to defend his Isuzu Queensland Open title.

And those who visit the Isuzu Queensland Open from 26-29 October can expect some big hits from the 21-year old.

"I sometimes freak myself out how far I can hit it," Coletta said, without a hint of arrogance.

"Length-wise, I'm not the biggest guy out there but I can keep up with the bigger guys. I have always had that x-factor, but sometimes, I still freak myself out."

"A tournament like the Queensland Open is extremely important," Coletta stated. "It gives that insight into what professional golf is like."

Isuzu Queensland Open Tournament Director, Luke Bates, said having Coletta back at The Brisbane Golf Club to defend his title was a bonus for the tournament.

"Brett now has some great tour experience and will no doubt use this to his advantage," Bates said.

"We welcome Brett back to the Isuzu Queensland Open and look forward seeing him out on course in October."

The Championship is a part of an action-packed Australian summer of golf and forms part of the ISPS HANDA PGA Tour of Australasia.
