Committee Members raise funds for NSW golf community

The NSW Golf Foundation Men’sand Women’s Committee Days raised just over $16,000 for much needed funds to assist golf clubs and individual golfers in NSW. Over 100 golf club committee members from 46 different golf clubs across NSW came together to support the NSW golfing community through the NSW Golf Foundation Men’sand Women’s Committee Golf Days. The Committee Golf Days are an initiative of the NSW Golf Foundation to raise funds which are provided as grants to support numerous worthy causes to help build and develop the game of golf in NSW. Through the Foundation, grants have been awarded to a significant number of clubs for projects, programs and services and to individual golfers to participate in major championships. In 2011, a range of grants were awarded to purchase computer equipment to enable clubs to access GOLFLink, install synthetic grass surfaces, construct amenities and cart storage facilities, install irrigation systems, and to conduct much needed repairs to premises, including those caused by fire and flood damage. The Foundation was also able to provide support to a number of individuals to attend the World Deaf Golf Championships, Australian Open Amputee Championships and Special Olympics, with a number of golfers returning as medal winners representing Australia. The second Men’sCommittee Day was staged at the Elanora Country Club on 30th July. It was first introduced last year and held on the same day as the Ladies Committee Day. This year the Men&aposs and Women&aposs events were held on different days. Many players experienced the Elanora Country Club for their first time and commented on how great the golf course was. The 11th Women’s Committee Day was held at Avondale Golf Club on 8 August. As with previous years the day was well attended and judging by the feedback all the ladies had a great day. The NSW Golf Foundation thanks Elanora Country Club, Avondale Golf Club, and all the sponsors who helped make the two days a success and for supporting the NSW golfing community.
