Golf Victoria (GV), in conjunction with Yarra Bend Golf is conducting a Community Golf Open Day on Sunday 13 October 2013. A series of Open Days are being successfully conducted across the state to promote the game of golf to people of all ages and abilities. The excellent facilities at Yarra Bend will allow GV to provide all family members with the opportunity to participate in a series of fun and exciting golf related activities throughout the day. Simon Brookhouse, Golf Victoria CEO is encouraging everyone with an interest in the game to get along on the day and believes the Open Day series are a great opportunity for golfers of all abilities to enjoy themselves and learn something new. The objective of such golfing experiences is to allow the accomplished golfer or a complete beginner to enjoy many of the fun aspects of our great game. Our vision at Golf Victoria is Golf the Game for Life. Hopefully promotional days like these will form an important part of the sports life cycle. Golf is a sport that can be played and practiced on your own or with others, and at GV are we encouraging everyone to give golf a go so that everyone can enjoy the fun experience that our great game can provide, said Brookhouse. The day will also mark the Grand Opening of the recently developed Yarra Bend Driving Range and provide all participants with the opportunity to gain a sneak peek at the new 36 hole Yarra Bend Adventure Golf facility that will open in December 2013. Activities available for all ages include: Lessons on the range with one of Australia s premier golf coaching teams Come & Try fun on the range for everyone Long drive competitions Short game (chipping and pitching) clinics Long game clinics Putting competitions 15 minute putting clinics on the hour, every hour Mega jumping castle Face painting Giant raffle with great prizes up for grabs Specialist equipment for junior golfers (SNAG) BBQ, food & drinks Spot prizes and giveaways throughout the day Simply turn up on the day and enjoy a unique golfing experience. All golf equipment is available on the day free of charge so no need to bring your own clubs. Entry is $5 for individuals or $10 per family. (City of Yarra residents gain free entry).
