Conran misfires in Japan

Steven Conran has finished in a tie for 11th place at the Mizuno Open Yomiuri Classic in Osaka, Japan. However, the 42-year-old will be disappointed he didn&apost do better, as he had a share of the lead going into the final round. He could only manage a one-over par to plummet down the leaderboard. Thailand&aposs Prayad Marksaeng won his second consecutive event on the Japan Golf Tour when he birdied five of his last seven holes to finish at 15-under. Azuma Yano finished a stroke back in second, with Michio Matsumura, Yoshinobu Tsukada and Dong-Hwan Lee finishing a further stroke back in a tie for third. Scott Laycock shot an impressive final round 67 to finish in a tie for 28th, while Paul Sheehan finished 34th. Other Australians in the field included Chris Campbell (43rd) and Craig Jones (56th). The stop-start Japan Golf Tour now has another week off before the UBS Japan Golf Tour Championship Shishido Hills in Ibaraki Prefecture east of Tokyo.
