Country Team matches continue

15 Country Districts began their campaign in the Men’s Country Team Matches with Golf Peninsula (Shield), Murray Darling (Plate) & East Gippsland (Bowl) leading their respective divisions.

Rounds one and two were completed today in the 2015 Victorian Men’s Country Week Teams Matches. The Shield (Division 1) contested their matches at Victoria Golf Club, while the Plate (Division 2) and Bowl (Division 3) played out their matches at Patterson River Golf Club. The players were faced with rather cool conditions in the morning with the temperature slightly rising throughout the afternoon.

Golf Peninsula, who are a strong team consisting of the likes of Buzimkic & Schonewille, have managed to overcome Golf Central & North Eastern to place themselves on top of the Shield ladder. West Gippsland also went undefeated after their two rounds. A competitive day beckons tomorrow as the Shield makes its way to Cranbourne Golf Club.

Murray Darling is sitting on top of the Plate Division ladder going undefeated today against Western and South Gippsland. Western and Geelong are placed in third and fourth place with wins against Wimmera in the afternoon and morning respectively.

In the Bowl Division, 3 of the 4 teams are in contention to take the trophy back to their districts in the third and final round tomorrow morning. East Gippsland are sitting on top of the ladder a few match points ahead of Dalhousie after their convincing clean sweep of Northern this afternoon. The two leaders squared their contest this morning, with Kara Kara also in with a chance.
