The 2019 Men’s and Women’s Country Week Teams Matches is underway as the best country golfers from across the state, gathered in Melbourne to represent their districts in this traditional competition.
The event consists of three divisions, each with five teams competing for their respective titles.
The division one men and women competed at Huntingdale Golf Club today with Ballarat setting the pace in the men’s competition.
Wins of 5/2 and 6/1 see them in a commanding position after day one.
The women’s division one has Golf Peninsula Vic out in front after their two wins.
Defending champions North Eastern won their morning match before having the bye in the afternoon and take on Golf Peninsula Vic tomorrow morning at Cranbourne.
Goulburn Murray and Golf Central Vic shared the points in their afternoon match to be equal on half a match each.
Division two took to Southern with West Gippsland leading the men’s division and South Western leading the women’s, both with two victories on day one.
Over at Keysborough for division three, Dalhousie won both of their matches in the men’s competition whilst Northern took the advantage in the women’s after their two victories.
