Crabbe and Bannan cruising at the top of the Murray

The opening round of the ever-popular Murray River Junior masters kicked off today at the beautiful Tocumwal Golf Club. The brilliant Captain’s course was manicured to absolute perfection in very warm conditions with the temperature reaching into the mid 30’s.

Mitch Crabbe from Commonwealth Golf Club currently leads the boys field with a round of three under-par 69. The 16-year-old is poised just a single shot ahead of Jack Rasmussen and a further shot clear of Jarrett Miles. A trio of players signed for rounds of 72 including and no doubt they will be eager to minimise the deficit on the leader come tomorrow mornings second round. 

In the girls section, Kay Bannan leads the field with a solid round of level-par 73. The Southern member will be hoping to extend her lead on Cobram-Barooga’s Steffi Vogel tomorrow before Vogel hits her home track on Friday morning.

In the nett section, Josh Baker from Albury fired a sensational round of 64 nett to break his 15 handicap by a massive 8 shots. Sandhurst’s Caleb Johnson also had a great round of 67.
