Mitchell Crabbe has swept the prize table at Cobram Barooga.

The 17-year-old South Western junior produced his best tournament yet, finishing 6-under-par to claim the 2019 Victorian Men’s Country Championship, Boys Country Championship and Cobram Barooga Open Amateur as well as lead his team to victory in the Junior Country Regions.

The event saw the Victorian Men’s Country Championship, Junior Country Regions and Cobram Barooga Open Amateur played in conjunction for the first time.

Crabbe fired two under-par rounds of 68 and 70 to finish one clear of Darcy Brereton in the Cobram Barooga Open Amateur.

Brereton gave his best effort to catch Crabbe in round two, carding a superb five-under 67 on the Old Course today but ultimately fell just short.

The runner-up in the Country Championship went to Toby Walker who finished four-under for the tournament.

Walker also took out the Colts Country Championship for players aged 18-23.

14-year old Tayne Perry was a standout in the net divisions, claiming the handicap prizes for the Cobram Bogram Open Amateur, Men’s Country Championship and Boys Country Championship.

Perry’s tournament was highlighted by a net 67 on the Old Course in round one.

In the Junior Country Regions, Southern Western made it four years in a row by finishing +56 for the tournament and 27 shots clear of Golf Peninsula in second place.

Crabbe starred for South Western and is the only member to have played in all four winning teams.

North Eastern took out the Junior Regions handicap event with an aggregate score of nett +44.

Overall the event was an astounding success and a big thank you must be extended to Cobram Barooga Golf Club for their exceptional hospitality.

Also, thanks must be passed on to the 138 competitors as well as the districts and team managers for their continued support.

This event will return to Cobram Barooga Golf Club next year and the dates will be announced shortly.
