Cullen leads SAGA Invitational at half-way mark

South Australian Nick Cullen takes a slender one-stroke lead into the third round of the 2007 SAGA Invitational at Glenelg Golf Club. The Grange member carded rounds of 70 and 73 to top the field ahead of West Australian duo Rick Kulacz and John Martino. It&aposs tight at the top though as nine players sit within three strokes of the lead. Big-hitting Aaron Pike is equal-fourth, just two shots back, as is fellow Queenslander Brett Rankin. National Squad members had mixed fortunes. While Kulacz is only one shot adrift, his team mates Richie Gallichan, Rudi Bezuidenhuot and Josh Younger find themselves well down the leader board. Ray Beaufils is the second best squad member, shooting a second round 71 to sit five off the pace. The best round of the day came from local Chris Austin who shot a superb 69. The Tea Tree Gully member is the only player to break 70 thus far and if not for an opening round 81, would be well amongst the leaders. Saturday&aposs action gets underway at 11:45am local time and the final group will hit the course at 1:05pm. A seeded draw will occur at the close of play for Sunday&aposs final round.
