“This championship attracts the best amateur golfers in the state, both young and old, plus leading golfers from other states and internationally. With the final two players having played six grueling days of golf, it really is a test of skill, mental strength, and endurance”, remarked Graeme Phillipson, General Manager – Golf, Golf NSW.

A strong field of 240 competitors will tee up in this year’s event. Of the Interstate visitors, Victorian’s Ben Eccles and Thomas Power-Horan are back to defend their NSW Medal and Amateur titles. Eccles is also now the holder of the course record at one of the venues, Castle Hill, after his spectacular round during the NSW Open in November.

England’s Ryan Evans, the top-seed last week at the Australian Amateur, comes off a course record on The East Course at The Grange and should feature at the Amateur. As will fellow countryman and world number 32, Harry Casey. They will be joined by a strong contingent of Welsh and New Zealand players.
