Jared Dalton and Acacia Curtis have been crowned 2011 Golf SA Junior Sand Green champions after an exciting weekend of play at Kadina Golf Club. Curtis (Wirrabara) was untroubled in taking out the girls event with a two round total of 152, a full 18 shots clear of second placed Niki Spurling (Kadina, 170), while Dalton (Edithburgh) eventually triumphed in a playoff against Port Lincoln&aposs Jack Thompson after both players finished on 152. Dalton also triumphed in a playoff against Curtis for the Perpetual Trophy, traditionally awarded for the best gross score returned by a Junior Boy or Girl at the Junior Sand Greens Championship. The Boy&aposs division two winner was Minalton&aposs Jake Matthews with a two round total of 176, with Murray Bridge&aposs Tyson Pratt runner-up a shot back on 177. The Boy&aposs nett division was won by Kadina&aposs Chad Harrop from Peterborough&aposs Zach Fielding while in the Girls&apos nett division, Port Broughton&aposs Lee Palmer won from Minalton&aposs Imogen McDonnell on a count-back. Free coaching clinics conducted as part of the weekend&aposs activities proved extremely popular, with over 40 children from local schools and the weekend tournament field hitting the practice fairways on Friday afternoon, and a similar number of adults participating on Saturday.
