Daly heads for Royal Sydney

Golf Australia announced today that iconic American golfer John Daly will start the Australian Open at The Royal Sydney Golf Club from 11-14 December. The former US PGA and British Open Champion will join the illustrious Open field alongside Geoff Ogilvy, Adam Scott , Stuart Appleby, Darren Clarke, Robert Allenby, Craig Parry and Tim Clark, all vying for the prized Stonehaven Cup. Speaking about his Australian Open debut, Daly said he was looking forward to playing in Sydney. I am really looking forward to coming back to Sydney for the Australian Open. I&aposve been told the Royal Sydney Golf Club will suit my game, I have always enjoyed competing in Australia and really looking forward to playing, Daly said. Championship director Trevor Herden said he was delighted that Daly is now able to play the Australian Open in Sydney. To have John in the field will no doubt increase the buzz that we expect around Royal Sydney next week. This course should really suit John as it did Mark Calcavecchia who won the title at Royal Sydney in 1988, Herden said.
