Darren Clarke joins Coolum field

Former British Open winner Darren Clarke has been added to the field for the Australian PGA Championship alongside John Senden and Robert Allenby. Clarke, who won the Open Championship in 2011 and was vice-captain of the Europe team at the Ryder Cup in Illinois last week, will take part in his second consecutive Australian PGA Championship from December 13 to 16. The OneAsia Tour, which co-sanctions the Australian PGA Championship with the PGA of Australasia Tour, have confirmed Clarke, Senden and Allenby have committed to the Coolum-based event. Allenby has won the tournament four times and hopes he can find some form at the course at the Hyatt Regency Coolum. “It&aposs always a good place to come at the end of the year,” Allenby said. “It hasn&apost been my best year on course so to finish the season somewhere where I&aposve had a lot of success will be good.” The Australian PGA Championship will be the final event of 2012 for both the OneAsia and PGA of Australasia tours.
