Dartnall enjoys pay day

Stephen Dartnall claimed the biggest pay cheque of his short career when he finished in a tie for eighth in the $US1 million Nationwide Tour Players Cup. The Australian carded a final-round 69 to finish at 11-under overall and pick up $30,000 for his troubles. Dartnall&aposs total placed him four shots behind Rick Price and Chris Anderson on 15-under. Price, 40, needed only a bogey on the second play-off hole to claim victory and book his place on the lucrative PGA Tour by guaranteeing himself a spot in the top 25 Nationwide Tour money winners. Price picked up $US180,000 for first place that saw him leap from 46th to third on the money list. “This means a lot. It means I get an opportunity to play on the best Tour in the world with the best players,” he said. “The bottom line – it&aposs a dream come true for me.” Peter Tomasulo (68), David Hearn (69) and David Branshaw shared third place, while Oscar Bergman (67) and D.J. Brigman (70) tied for sixth place. Greg Chalmers continued his fine form on the tour, claiming his eighth top-10 result this season. The 34-year-old left hander finishedin a tie for 10th and has moved to outright second on the money list behind fellow Aussie Jarrod Lyle. Chalmers, winner of the Henrico County Open in May, has made 12 of 15 cuts this year including his last six and has earned $US249,761.
