Andrew Davis and Alma Fonda-Russell have taken the honours in the inaugural Huntingdale Senior Amateur.

Players hit off this morning at 8:00am and enjoyed the best conditions of the Sandbelt Senior week thus far.

Davis (The National) came in with the best score after firing an excellent 74 off the stick.

Davis played steady golf all round and produced a magnificent eagle on the par 5 10th hole.

It was a great reward for Davis, who made the honourable decision three days earlier to forfeit his runner-up prize at Kingston Heath after checking the results online and discovering he had signed an incorrect scorecard.

Fellow member of The National Golf Club Kim Johnson was looking to claim his third victory this week but ultimately fell just short with a score of 75.

In the men's nett, Adam Charleston (Barwon Heads) took home first prize after shooting a highly impressive nett 68 off a daily handicap of 8.

Lang Lang member Anthony Chandler produced the second of the two eagles for the day on the par 5 7th hole and finished as the runner-up with nett 70 on a countback to Donald Parsonage (Monash).

In the women's scratch event, Yarrambat's Alma Fonda-Russell claimed her first senior scratch trophy with a score of 19 points.

Sandra Collingwood (Keysborough) came in with the next best score with 18 points.

The women's stableford trophy went to Pakenham's Tina Cowie who finished with 31 points.

Cowie came out of the blocks on fire with 19 points through her first 9 holes and managed to hold on for a 2 point victory over Suzanne Ferguson (Rossdale).

A big thank you to the Huntingdale Golf Club for their tremendous hospitality in the first edition of the Huntingdale Senior Amateur.

Next on the senior calendar is the Metropolitan Plate to commence at 12:45pm on Monday.
