Golf NSW HP Squad Member and 2015 Australian Amateur Champion Cameron Davis has made a successful return to competitive golf after recovering from surgery to a serious wrist injury.
The Monash Country Club member chose last week’s Avondale Medal as his comeback event to the delight of the tournament’s organisers. Davis was thrilled with his performance, finishing second in the event to NSW State team mate Harrison Endycott.
“It feels great to be back,” said Davis. “I’ve been looking forward to this for a while.”
“It’s great to play here at Avondale. I know the course well.”
“I’ve had plenty of time of to think about things and this was the perfect moment to get back into it.”

The 20 year-old severely injured his wrist while playing the Mona Vale medal in October last year. The injury meant he missed out on starts in the all of the big events of the Australian summer and destroyed any chance he had of defending his Amateur crown.
Davis has been hard at work getting his game back into shape after the five-month layoff. His Surgeon, Dr Greg Hoy gave him the go ahead to begin practicing over a month ago, confident that the operation was a success and he had recovered well.
“I spent a month just hitting 6 irons at first. I hit my first driver about two weeks ago, and I’ve been practicing every day since.”

With his wrist well on the mend, Davis is looking forward to a big 2016. He plans to play more golf this year than ever before. Next up for him is the Riversdale Cup followed by the Interstate Series. After that it’s likely he’ll head overseas.
“Depending on how my wrist is going, I’ll head to the UK and the US. I have a few starts lined up so I’ll see what happens.”
As for the present however, Cameron is only seeing positives after such a long stint off the fairway.
“I’ve had plenty of reflection time. I’m ready to get back into it,” he smiled.
