Day 2 complete in Greater Shepparton

Helen Pascoe (Buninyong) is the number one qualifier for the 2018 Victorian Women’s Senior Championships.

Pascoe carded a 160 gross total, taking home the best gross salver for ages 60-64. Her opponent tomorrow will be number 4 seed Sandra Collingwood from Keysborough

Collingwood posted 179 for the two rounds which also saw her victorious in the 70+ age gross salver.

The other contest in the Championship flight will see Kim Burke (Shelly Beach) take on Glenys Ferguson (Wanneroo) after they finished with 163 and 169 respectively.

Burke and Ferguson were the two other gross age salver winners in the 55-59 and 65-69 categories respectively.

The best nett winners went to Tina Cowie (55-59), Helen Ellis (60-64), Bobette Wilkinson (65-69) and Flo Feltham (70+).

In the 55-64 flight age group flight, Julie Daniel (Numurkah) qualified number 1 and will take on Helen Drake (Dorset).

The other 55-64 semi-final will see Sue Lush (Gardiners Run) battle against Alma Fonda-Russell (Yarrambat Park).

The 65+ flight age group is the final match play section. Top qualifier Bobette Wilkinson (Tocumwal) will take on Flo Feltham (Buninyong) and Heather Harley (Kooringal) will do battle with Lyn Bennett (Gosnells).

There is a new leader in the hunt for the Men’s Senior Amateur title.

Geoff Charnley of Rossdale carded an even par 72 to be leading by one shot going into the final round.

Hot on his tail are Metropolitan’s Doug Francis and Chris Tatt of Buninyong. 2017 champion Francis will be chasing a title defense with Tatt also looking to secure a second Victorian Senior Amateur win.

Ignatius Duivenvoorden of Yarram has showed steady form over the first two rounds in the nett section. Duivenvoorden is one shot ahead of local member Geoff Hamill (Shepparton).

The men will return to Shepparton for their final round tomorrow morning, while the women’s matches head back to Hill Top for the semis and finals.
