Australian Women’s Interstate Teams Matches (for the Gladys Hay Memorial Cup) – Royal Hobart GC
The Victorian women’s team continues to shine following a day of resounding wins at the Australian Women’s Interstate Teams Matches at Royal Hobart Golf Club.
Leading overnight, the Victorians completed consecutive 5-0 victories over Tasmania and New South Wales on the second day to move eight matches and a contest clear of Western Australia in second place.
Su Hyun Oh and Julienne Soo recorded strong wins in both their matches for the leaders.
Defending champions Western Australia moved up into second place after victories over New South Wales and South Australia. Minjee Lee, Hannah Green and Hayley Bettencourt were undefeated on the second day for the Western Australians.
Queensland is in third place after a 5-0 win over South Australia and 4-1 win over Tasmania.
New South Wales is in fourth place and South Australia and Tasmania round out the leaderboard in fifth and sixth.
Australian Men’s Interstate Teams Matches – Tasmania GC
The Queensland men took full advantage of their 6-1 victory over South Australia in the morning on Day 2 to move into top spot at the Australian Men’s Interstate Teams Matches in cold and wet conditions at Tasmania Golf Club.
Reigning Australian Amateur champion Cameron Smith and Aaron Wilkin were among those to record victories in both their matches for the Queensland side looking to make it three wins in the last four years at the championship.
New South Wales is in second place after bouncing back from a loss to Western Australia to complete a resounding win over Victoria in the afternoon.
After leading overnight, the Victorian men suffered heavy losses on the second day.
Tasmania produced the result of the day to beat Victoria 6-1 in the morning before New South Wales defeated the Victorians 6.5-0.5 in the afternoon to leave them in third place.
