The Queenslanders now take a 3 to lead over fellow finalists Victoria after today s foursomes section of the final. Earlier in the day, the Queensland side defeated Tasmania 5-2 in Round Five to finish just one match ahead of local favourites Western Australia to earn a spot in the final. Kevin Marques, Tim Hart and Maverick Antcliff were among the Queensland players to go undefeated while Western Australia s Brady Watt carded a rare albatross when he holed his second shot on the par 5 9th hole. Western Australia and South Australia finished in third and fourth place after five rounds and are level at 2-2 after the first stage of the consolation final. New South Wales and Tasmania are contesting the second consolation final in the battle for fifth and sixth place. The locals had a comprehensive win over South Australia in the morning to seal their spot in the final and now need to win just two matches on Friday to lift the Gladys Hay Memorial Cup. Whitney Hillier and Rhianna Davies both had solid days for the leaders. Victoria takes a two match lead over Queensland into tomorrow s singles section of the second consolation final. The Victorians lost to New South Wales in the final round but bounced back to be undefeated in the foursomes and can seal third place if they maintain their advantage on Friday. South Australia and Tasmania round out the leaderboard with the South Australians taking a XX lead into tomorrow final day.
