Day 3 Report – Australian Interstate Series

Australian Men’sInterstate Teams Matches, Oxley Golf Club Queensland produced another excellent performance on home soil to increase their lead at the Australian Men’sInterstate Teams Matches at Oxley Golf Club. And while the Queenslanders surged 4 matches clear of Victoria going into the penultimate round, Tasmania stole the headlines with an outstanding 8-3 victory over Western Australia. In last place overnight, the Tasmanians took a share of the spoils from the morning foursomes before marching to a 6-1 win in the singles as Ryan McCarthy, Kalem Richardson, Nathan Gatehouse and Richard Kube, Mark Schulze and Adam Ring tasted victory. Queensland ensured there was space between themselves and Victoria in a 7-4 win. Taking a 3-1 lead from the foursomes, Queenslanders Cameron Smith, Rika Batibasaga and Adam Boyer won their singles matches to maintain the position at the top. New South Wales is in third place following their squared contest against South Australia. Sharing the foursomes points, South Australians Brad Moules, Chris Austin and Chris Brown rallied for their side in the afternoon singles but there was nothing between the two teams. South Australia is in fourth place. Tasmania moved into fifth place ahead of Western Australia in sixth. Thursday Draw: QLD v NSW, TAS v SA, VIC v WA Australian Women’s Interstate Teams Matches, McLeod Country Golf Club Western Australia produced a second consecutive 8-0 demolition to move into top spot at the Australian Women’s Interstate Teams Matches for the Gladys Hay Cup. The Western Australians defeated South Australia 8-0 on Tuesday before beating Tasmania by the same scoreline today at McLeod Country Golf Club. Whitney Harvey had the best results of the day winning her foursomes 7&6 with Jessica Speechley before winning her singles match 8&7. Queensland kept pace with the leaders following their 6-2 victory over Victoria. Taking a 2-1 lead out of the morning, wins for Ashley Ona, Sheree Hasson and Ali Orchard gave Queensland the contest. A gap of four matches and a contest has opened between Queensland and Victoria in third place following the Victorians loss. New South Wales are in fourth place following their 7-1 defeat of South Australia. Elle Sandak, Carly Beck and Chantal Hodson recorded victories in both their foursomes and singles matches. South Australia and Tasmania round out the leaderboard in fifth and sixth place with neither having won a contest. Thursday Draw: QLD v NSW, TAS v SA, VIC v WA Australian Colts Interstate Teams Matches, Wynnum Golf Club Victoria seized the opportunity to take the lead by defeating home favourites Queensland in the Australian Colts Interstate Teams Matches at Wynnum Golf Club. Leading by just 1 matches overnight, Queensland fell 5 to 2 to slip into second place after excellent performances by Todd Sinnott, Travis Sharpe and Ryan Woodward. The loss puts Queensland just half a match ahead of New South Wales in third following their 5-3 win over South Australia. Despite trailing from the morning foursomes, New South Wales rallied to win the singles matches 4-1 as Kyle Grant (5&4) and Luke Humphries (4&3) won comfortably. Western Australia is in fourth place following their 5-3 win over Tasmania as Cruze Strange and Jordan Lambert won both their singles and foursomes for WA.
