Day closing in on leaders

Australia&aposs Jason Day is just one shot off the lead after three rounds of the Turning Stone Resort Championship in Verona. Day fired a one-under par round of 71 to finish the day at seven-under and in a tie for third place behind Americans Charles Howell III and Tag Ridings. Day was tied with Londoner Brian Davis and home hopes Jeff Overton and Kyle Thompson. Overton led after both the first and second rounds at Atunyote Golf Club. Ridings, still searching a maiden tour win at his 154th attempt, slipped back into a tie for the lead when he missed a short par putt on the last. Veteran Australian Robert Allenby is just one shot behind Day at six-under, while Mark Hensby is a further stroke adrift at five-under. Fellow Australians Steve Allan and Mathew Goggin are still in contention at four-under, while compatriots Nick O&aposHern and Steve Elkington are tied for 23rd at two-under.
