Jason Day has logged his best finish on the United States PGA Tour since May with a rip-roaring weekend of golf in South Korea in the CJ Cup at Nine Bridges.
Day went 65-67 over the weekend to finish tied-fifth, his first top-five finish since the Players Championship this year.
It was a decent week for the Australians, with Cameron Smith and Adam Scott also finishing in the top 10. Smith finished tied-seventh after a third, consecutive round in the 60s, giving him a good lead-up to the World Cup, where he will represent Australia with Marc Leishman. Scott had seven birdies and an eagle in a dazzling, final-round 63 to finish tied-10th.
Leishman also had a good weekend, jumping up to tied-18th.
American Brooks Koepka blew the field away, winning by four shots at 21-under overall.
Meanwhile in the LPGA Tour’s Buick tournament in Shanghai, Su Oh and Minjee Lee both finished in the top 20, tied-14th.
Lee, who is second on the tour’s Race to CME Globe season-long points competition, still has a chance of overhauling the leader, Ariya Jutanugarn of Thailand.
There are three more tournaments in the 2018 season before the Tour Championship in Florida in November.
