Kiran Day and Abbie Teasdale secured dream victories in the Amateur Championships of Western Australia on Sunday afternoon at The Western Australian Golf Club.
Day, 22, played near perfect all day at Yokine to shoot 11 under through 27 holes to finish a 10&9 victor over Matthew Cheung, of Hong Kong.
Teasdale’s road to the championship was much more thrilling. Yeah-Jin Lee and Teasdale were all square down the 18th, but missed their respective putts to take the contest to extra holes.
The Royal Fremantle member then sunk a 3m putt to seal the championship on the 37th hole, sparking emotional celebrations.
Day was a class above throughout his round, shooting 63 through the first 18 holes to take a 7-up lead at the turn.
The Cottesloe member couldn’t put a foot wrong going bogey-free for the entire day, becoming the 40th member to clinch the coveted crown.

Day began the match steadily shooting just one birdie in the first four holes, before an impressive eagle on the sixth set his round alight.
By the ninth, Day was 3-up and tracking towards his first WA Amateur title.
Three more birdies on the back nine saw the lead shoot out to seven and Cheung couldn’t recover.
The victory proved all the more sweeter for Day after going down to fellow West Aussie Min Woo Lee in the 2015 final.
The women’s match proved a tight affair with neither giving an inch, with Lee holding the the biggest advantage of the contest with a 2-up lead on the 19th.
The women stayed all square from the 31st hole, with a Teasdale birdie on the first extra hole enough to take the title.
It capped a stellar week for the 15-year-old who also shot a course-record 66 on Thursday and ensured both titles stayed on home soil again.
