De Groot leads Australians in Florida

South Wales professional Emma De Groot is the leading Australian at the LPGA Tour School in Florida after the first round in Florida today, but young guns Minjee Lee and Su Oh also are well placed.

De Groot, a three-year professional from Coffs Harbour in New South Wales, carded an opening 71, one-under-par, to sit in a tie for 11th after the first round.

She has been playing on the secondary Symetra Tour in the United States, after attending college.

Brogan McKinnon of Canada carded an opening 66 to lead the field in the four-round second stage of qualifying. Of the 192 players in the field, the top-80 advance to final stage of Qualifying Tournament from December 3-7 in Daytona Beach, Florida.

Lee and Oh, both 18, shot even-par 72s to sit in equal-28th position along with Lauren Hibbert, of New South Wales, who is the touring professional at Asquith Golf Club near Sydney.
